Thank You Cards

We had such a great time on our Cromwell and Arrowtown visits that we really wanted to say a BIG thank you to all our guides, drivers and helpers. We recorded our thoughts in poetry and this is what we came up with...

Writing - Special People

Grandma
Every year my grandma comes down to see us. Every time she comes we go straight to the garden.
“Life is like glass, you have to take care of it,” my grandma keeps telling me.
As I stare into her eyes, the fantastic pale blue eyes seem so comforting and every time grandma comes she seems to have the same red top.
 I love my grandma.

MESSY JANE

My name is Messy Jane because I have humourus frizzy hair like a bird's nest.  My tangled up knotty hair brushes over my emerald green eyes. It makes my eyesight feel like it has soft curtains over it.
I first started with nice straight hair but then mornings became a rush.  I hardly had any time to brush my hair and now everyone calls me Messed up Jane.
Even when I have a nice relaxing shower my hair still frizzes like one hundred strands of spaghetti noodles.  My hair is black like the midnight sky.

MY MUM

On wet rainy weekends mum makes chocolate chip bicuits with me.  Chocolatey smells drift over us as we work.
My mum is special to me because she always says, "You're amazing!"
She hasbluey green shimmering eyes.  Her hair is silky brown and waves gently in the wind. Mum has ruby red lipstick.
My mum also says, "I love you to the moon and back."

My cousin Alice
In the holidays I like to visit my four year old cousin Alice, she is so hilarious!
She makes me want to laugh every second I’m with her. It’s like she jumps in my brain and controls my laughter. My aunty Cathy thinks when Alice grows up she will be just like me!

The golden key

By Mitch

The shining key was glistening in the boiling summer sun. I found this unusual key while I was mowing my grumpy old neighbour’s lawn. This amazing key was found on a little pile of dirt. It was in his dark wet backyard. I came back to my house feeling shocked. I wonder what it would be for. I took it to my mum to tell her all about it. My mum is a scientist and when I showed her she looked as shocked as I was!!!

THINKERS KEY Starting with a diagram or lines on the board children create a picture that relates to the topic they are learning about.

 Start with this...

and create something as clever as this!

The Dress

The moonlight shimmered on the blood red dress. Curled brown hair cascaded down her back and fluttered in a breath of wind. Her silver rings with a ruby at the centre of it matched the silver necklace that hung around her pale neck. Hazel eyes caught the thin stream of moonlight as she stepped forwards. The long frills that were connected to the silk smooth top swayed as she took cautious steps.

The Boat

The wind was howling like a wolf at midnight. Black and grey clouds wrapped around the boat like a tightening noose. The boat was thrown around like a ball, the waves smashed on the side of the rickety old structure.
